Although the handset is far from being confirmed, the source is known to be somewhat reliable, and the specifications do match the expected by the market: a 4″ multi-touch display, a 12 megapixel camera wit Carl Zeiss optics, HDMI-out, and other components common on Nokia smartphones.
Unlike the N97 and past flagship smartphones, the N98 is understood to bear a full touchscreen form factor, without any hardware keyboard.
The images in question indicate that there will be support for microSD memory cards, while the SIM card slot is awkwardly positioned for external access – that is, without need to open the back cover.
The Nokia N98′s camera is the much-expected 12 megapixel sensor from Nokia, with Carl Zeiss optics, and a Xenon flash, instead of the usual dual-LED flash component.
There could be a long way before the N98 is announced officially. The last announcement of a flagship, the N900, occured at the Nokia World. This year’s Nokia World will take place in London, September 14-15.
