After upgrading my iPhone 3G to the latest iOS4, and jailbreaking it with redsn0w I found it very difficult to make the phone connect to a wifi network. It always pops up a “Unable to Join error”. Till now, we haven’t found a fix for this issue. It may be because of the beta jail breaking and hactivation.
So, Don’t do it at this time.
The dev team says:
We are working hard on a release to our tools that will jailbreak your device (or give you iOS4 via the jailbreak train) and provide you with a carrier unlock.
Until these tools are released you should hold off on updating your device until we have fully tested our tools with all the relevant devices.
If you rely on hacktivation or a carrier unlock (ultrasn0w) then you should not upgrade until we have fully tested and released our tools.
Don’t be tempted with unofficial PwnageTool/redsn0w bundles or releases, just check here or our team twitter for real time release information.
Therefore, my suggestion is to wait and enjoy the included features of the iOS4 at this time!

Same here, either the phone is not able to detect the wifi connection, when it does – its not able to connect to it and when it connects – it drops the connection within no time. Absolute piss off.
Moving back to 3.1.2 until something better comes out.
The problem might not be with iOS 4, it may be because of the beta jailbreak software. I face this issue only in my iPhone 3G, it works fine in my iPod touch and also in some other iPhone 3G.

After jailbreaking with redsn0w beta 4, my wifi issue was solved. But when I took Cydia and after completing the “reloading data”, my wifi got disconnected. There after wifi will not work.
That's real odd. Maybe Cydia is the culprit here.

No. I didn't try sn0wbreeze. It a bit difficult to restore custom firmware. I am waiting for the stable version of redsn0w.
what about redsnow 0.9.5b5-5.. can it solve the wifi and data cellular problems…
