AT&T has just announced and confirmed that they are now unlocking out of contract iPhones and really this is a great move from both Tim Cook the CEO of Apple and AT&t carrier:
So right now those users who are having old devices like iPhone 4 or etc and can’t unlock it as they are running their devices on AT&T carrier, don’t worry all what you have to do is make a call for the carrier and dial 611 from my current iPhone, and navigated my way through the automated system. After a few minutes I landed in the tech support department, with a customer service representative who obviously hadn’t gotten the memo yet.
After this they will ask you to give them your iPhone’s IMEI number, after that AT&T will submit your request for unlock. That’s it right now wait about 20 minutes But if I would have known that the unlock request could have been submitted through AT&T’s online chat service, I probably would’ve gone that route.
You can give it a try and call AT&T where they will unlock your iPhone by sending a code and some instruction in a message then wait about 20 minutes until your iPhone is unlocked, that’s it you are done..
