The Gadget industry is going up really fast! Just like the iPhone, the iPad is going to revolutionize the tablet industry. I can’t wait to get my hands on one..

Analysts have predicted that the sales of iPad could reach around 5 million by the end of first year after such a blistering pre-order. Apple has also tried to attract customers by its frequent promotions on its official website.

However, according to a poll conducted by technology blog Engadget. com, reports that only 19% of 60,000 respondents have actually planned to purchase the item.

Engadget has confirmed with some extremely trusted dev sources that iPhone OS 3.2 contains rudimentary support for video calling. Apart from this, support for SMS and phone calling has also been discovered running on the iPad Simulator found in iPhone OS 3.2 SDK.

Some of the features that have been found in iPhone OS 3.2 SDK includes:

Support for Video Conferencing

Some sort of multitasking

File downloads, uploads and local storage via web browser (Mobile Safari)

Landscape orientation of the homescreen

Phone calls and SMS capability for iPad (3G models only).

Spell checker in all text fields with multiple dictionaries and user added entries

Included dictionaries: Apple Dictionary, New Oxford American Dictionary, Oxford American Writer’s Thesaurus, Shogakukan Daijisen, Shogakukan Progressive English-Japanese Japanese-English Dictionary, and Shogakukan Ruigo Reikai Jiten (may also be used for a Dictionary app perhaps?)

Richer text support for apps

Ability to selectively draw to external displays (via VGA)

Handwriting keyboard (for the rumored stylus perhaps?)

Location aware ads in Maps.

These features found in the SDK strongly suggests that video conferencing along with multitasking may be coming along down the road for the iPad, and perhaps for the next-gen iPhone as well.

HTC Desire is an Android smart phone and it is priced at 440 U.K pounds which costs Rs 30,000 approx.

It packs the updated HTC Sense UI
We’ve been a fan of the HTC Sense UI since it first cropped up on HTC Hero, and its now been tweaked to include some rather nice new features.

First up there is the new FriendStream widget, that brings all your friends’ activity on Facebook, Twitter and Flickr to one place for easy viewing, and the Helicopter View which allows you to pinch the screen to see up to 7 homescreens at once in mini versions. You can then choose which one to go to from there, rather than scrolling through to get to it.

You can also expect improved People, Calendar and Weather widgets, and an improved experience with Exchange email.

It’s a true multimedia phone
On top of improvements made to the Android music player with the Sense skin, online video looks stunning on the 3.7-inch AMOLED screen, and with Flash Lite 4 support, you won’t be limited to what you can and can’t watch as you are with the iPhone.

As forecasted Nexus one didn’t cater to its performance, instead it witnessed a dip of nearly 70 per cent in sales.

According to the reports of ZDNet, it was estimated that the Google’s super phone would be a hit and would gather a sale of at least 3.5 million units in 2010. But the phone failed miserably as now it is posed for only a million sales in total.

It is believed that the dismay caused is primarily due to the limited marketing and customer service issues, which cropped up after the phone’s release. As per initial reports, Google sold 20,000 units in the first week, and 80,000 in the first month, both annualizing to 1.0 million only.

This is in sync with the decision to include Motorola in the kitty to boost the sales. Meanwhile, it still remains as a question, what Google will offer next to boost the sales.

Not surprisingly, there are several things missing from the iPhone version of the game compared to its console counterpart. For starters, you don’t get all 19 characters. Instead, you are restricted to just eight world warriors: Ryu, Ken, Guile, Blanka, Chun-Li, Dhalsim, M. Bison, and Abel. I would have liked to see Akuma and Gouken in there, but no such luck.

In terms of controls, you’ll be using the touchscreen with an overlaid virtual gamepad. Instead of the three punch and three kick configuration, you are given one punch button, one kick button, and what appear to be a couple of special buttons (for supers and ultras, presumably).

There’s a “Dojo” mode for practice and multiplayer is achieved via Bluetooth. Based on early reviews, it’s a great mobile version of Street Fighter IV. The graphics look decent too. Find it in the App Store for ten bucks.

Google unveiled the Gesture Search app, that allows android users to search for contacts, bookmarks, apps, music by drawing simple gestures on the screen. Gesture Search, announced March 3, can only be used on devices running Android 2.0 or higher ( I tested it on a HTC hero running firmware 2.1), which restricts the number of devices that have access to it. After using it on my phone, I found it very comfortable and useful, though it’s a little slow on my device. The app allows us to quickly search through the phone. All the contents are indexed first to make the search more faster. Many users want it to be bundled with the oncoming android devices. Want to try it out yourself ? Go to Android market and search for “Gesture Search”…!

Apple took advantage of the Academy Awards Ceremony tonight to air its very first iPad commercial, a very smart move knowing their intention to make it mainstream. It’s not their first move of the sort, since as you probably remember, they already had Colbert make some promotion at the Grammys last month.

Apple took advantage of the Academy Awards Ceremony tonight to air its very first iPad commercial, a very smart move knowing their intention to make it mainstream. It’s not their first move of the sort, since as you probably remember, they already had Colbert make some promotion at the Grammys last month.

In short, it’s a 30-second upbeat clip meant to go around its main features, pure Apple goodness. Check it out:

One of the latest BlackBerry smartphones to hit the market finally got its first taste of the latest update for OS 5.0 thanks to a leaked update that’s been finally made available for download. The BlackBerry Bold 9700 really managed to turn up the notch for the veteran smartphone maker with its sleek form factor and peppy speeds, but the Bold 9700 is getting treated to the OS 5.0.0.536 leak which brings forth a small amount of improvements. Owners can expect to see the caller ID issue fixed, no lock icon unless you have a password, the lock function is different, and browsing the internet looks to be a bit faster. Although it’s not a huge difference in terms of what’s experienced previously, it points to a telling sign that hopefully an official update will be made in the near future. So if you’ve got some time on your hands and want to take a risk in placing your Bold 9700 into the latest version, then you can give it a shot by installing the leaked update.

After chiming in on Steve Job’s keynote for the Apple iPad, a long time Swedish Apple fan going by the name of Jezper Söderlund sent Apple’s biggest genius a question. Aside from just flat out asking whether the Wi-Fi only version of the iPad will support tethering through the iPhone, Jezper didn’t waste much words in describing his affinity to obtain the answer to that question. Not only does he consider himself a famous DJ in his own right, the longtime Swede even provided some insights to his liking for Apple products as he is in the process of replacing his last computer at home with a new iMac i7. As with any email sent to Steve Jobs, there’s that slight possibility of getting back a reply – especially when he probably goes through hundreds or even thousands of emails per day from co-workers, employees, friends, and anyone in between. Jobs provided a rather simple and definitive answer to Jezper’s valid question – “No.” So there you have it, the two lettered word sent back to Jezper by Steve Jobs on his 3.1.2 iPhone pretty much seals it for that.
