Popular Twitter client for the BlackBerry, UberTwitter, is now also available for the iPhone. The current version has been released as a beta, with the full 1.0 version being announced for December.

Aside from the standard features offered by most Twitter clients: tweeting, retweeting, direct messaging and link shortening, UberTwitter boasts a unique feature called UberView. Enabled by simply turning the iPhone to landscape mode, or by tapping a tweet, UberView shows you the content from any embedded link within the tweet, such as a photo, video or an entire webpage.

With several very advanced Twitter clients — such as TweetDeck and HootSuite — already being available for the iOS platform, UberTwitter will have a tough time convincing iPhone users it’s the right Twitter client for them. However, BlackBerry-iPhone converts (UberTwitter claims that more than 9 million users have downloaded the BlackBerry client) will probably be glad they can continue tweeting with a familiar app.

UberTwitter is available for free from iTunes [iTunes link].

Finally, I believe this war is coming to an end. The blackberry has unfortunately lost the war with the Apple iPhone. Studies reveal that 40% of the blackberry users wish to switch to iPhone ones their contract is completed.

Sad news for blackberry! But the question is, will BlackBerry come up with something new that can put them back in the market? I hope they get things straight soon. The smartphone market is getting highly competitive with the arrival of Google and Microsoft. Lets just hope for the best ! !

One of the latest BlackBerry smartphones to hit the market finally got its first taste of the latest update for OS 5.0 thanks to a leaked update that’s been finally made available for download. The BlackBerry Bold 9700 really managed to turn up the notch for the veteran smartphone maker with its sleek form factor and peppy speeds, but the Bold 9700 is getting treated to the OS 5.0.0.536 leak which brings forth a small amount of improvements. Owners can expect to see the caller ID issue fixed, no lock icon unless you have a password, the lock function is different, and browsing the internet looks to be a bit faster. Although it’s not a huge difference in terms of what’s experienced previously, it points to a telling sign that hopefully an official update will be made in the near future. So if you’ve got some time on your hands and want to take a risk in placing your Bold 9700 into the latest version, then you can give it a shot by installing the leaked update.

Research in Motion, BlackBerry’s maker, has revealed that a new browser for their devices is on its way. The new browser is known to run on WebKit, the same rendering engine that is behind Apple’s browser i.e. Safari. The New BlackBerry browser is being rumored to be very easy to use and faster than Safari and will be released in the fourth quarter of this year.

Blackberry’s browsers have always lagged behind those of Google Android and Apple iPhone. However, the peer pressure of the market has forced the makers of BlackBerry to design a browser that can give neck and neck competition to other browsers. The race for the best mobile browser is on and BlackBerry has miles to cover.

The new browser for BlackBerry would be capable of handling AJAX, CSS and HTML5. RIM has claimed that the new browser would be more network efficient than other browsers.
