SkyFire for iPhone is an alternative iOS browser built on top of Safari and WebKit, so it feels very much like mobile Safari. It does however contain some amazing additions. Namely: Flash-support. To make this possible, SkyFire’s servers sit between you and the website you visit, and convert Adobe Flash content to iOS-friendly HTML5.

It should be available before Christmas for $4.99.

There’s been lots of exciting progress with Couch Surfer over the past week, most notably being fluid playback of HTML5 video. Couch Surfer is still a bit rough around the edges, but as you can see in the video below we’re getting close. (Note: the pause in the video is just to showcase the control bar that is available during playback).

Take a look at the demo video below. We will let you know when the browser does become available.

Apple has approved the Skyfire mobile browser which is capable of playing Flash video. It will be available in the App Store soon.

According to CNNMoney, Skyfire will be available for download at 9 a.m. ET on Thursday for $2.99.

To get around Apple’s restriction, Skyfire came up with an innovative solution: When users click on a page that contains Flash video, Skyfire’s servers download, render and translate the video into HTML5, which is a Web standard that iOS devices support. Skyfire then displays a thumbnail that users can click on to stream the video from its servers. “We will attack those pesky blue Flash error messages,” said Jeffrey Glueck, Skyfire’s CEO.

You can learn more about the browser here.

Research in Motion, BlackBerry’s maker, has revealed that a new browser for their devices is on its way. The new browser is known to run on WebKit, the same rendering engine that is behind Apple’s browser i.e. Safari. The New BlackBerry browser is being rumored to be very easy to use and faster than Safari and will be released in the fourth quarter of this year.

Blackberry’s browsers have always lagged behind those of Google Android and Apple iPhone. However, the peer pressure of the market has forced the makers of BlackBerry to design a browser that can give neck and neck competition to other browsers. The race for the best mobile browser is on and BlackBerry has miles to cover.

The new browser for BlackBerry would be capable of handling AJAX, CSS and HTML5. RIM has claimed that the new browser would be more network efficient than other browsers.
