UK carrier 3 have announced that they’ll be the next network to offer the HTC Desire, with the Android 2.1 smartphone arriving on Tuesday April 20th. Here is the post from the 3 blog :

We’ve finally had confirmation from HTC of our delivery date for the HTC Desire. It will launch in all of our channels (online, in-store, retention etc) on Tuesday 20th April.

Price for new customers:

Pay Monthly – £35 Internet Texter plan – £35 per month, unlimited texts, unlimited internet, unlimited 3-to-3 calls and 750 minutes

Pay As You Go – £349.99

This is the non-3 branded version of the phone. Once again, based on your comments on the blog, we’ve decided to launch this version. You’re making us revisit the way we do business.

The ultimate desire – HTC Desire

HTC Desire which was unveiled on Mobile World Congress and this product is expected to be released on April 1, 2010. HTC Desire is an Android smart phone and it is priced at 440 U.K pounds which costs Rs 30,000 approx.

It packs the updated HTC Sense UI
We’ve been a fan of the HTC Sense UI since it first cropped up on HTC Hero, and its now been tweaked to include some rather nice new features.

First up there is the new FriendStream widget, that brings all your friends’ activity on Facebook, Twitter and Flickr to one place for easy viewing, and the Helicopter View which allows you to pinch the screen to see up to 7 homescreens at once in mini versions. You can then choose which one to go to from there, rather than scrolling through to get to it.

You can also expect improved People, Calendar and Weather widgets, and an improved experience with Exchange email.

It’s a true multimedia phone
On top of improvements made to the Android music player with the Sense skin, online video looks stunning on the 3.7-inch AMOLED screen, and with Flash Lite 4 support, you won’t be limited to what you can and can’t watch as you are with the iPhone.

HTC Desire – The next Superphone ??

HTC has just announced their new smartphone named HTC Desire. HTC calls the HTC Desire a superphone rather than a smartphone, just like Google calls their Nexus One a superphone as well. This phone will run on Android 2.1 and have the beautiful HTC Sense UI just like HTC’s other phones. The HTC Desire has a 3.7 inch AMOLED capacative touch screen with pinch-to-zoom, and a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. It will ship with Adobe Flashplayer 10.1 software.

Unfortunately the HTC Desire won’t be available in the US, but the Nexus One is a good alternative for US users. Te HTC Desire will be available to customers across major European and Asian markets in early Q2. The HTC Desire will also exclusively be available in Australia through Telstra.
