Follow the steps below which shows you how to use GreenPois0n Absinthe to jailbreak iPhone 4S on iOS 5 / 5.0.1 and iPad 2 on iOS 5.0.1.

Downloads

• Download iTunes from here.
• Download Greenpois0n Absinthe 0.1.2-2 (Mac OS X [mirror] – Windows [Guide])
• Download iPhone 4S 5.0 (9A334), 5.0.1 (9A405) or 5.0.1 (9A406).
• Download iPad 2 5.0.1 (9A405)

Steps

STEP 1: Backup your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch and restore it using the iOS 5.0.1 or 5.0 IPSW file downloaded above.

STEP 2: Plug in your iPhone 4S or iPad 2 you want to jailbreak.

STEP 3: Now open GreenPois0n Absinthe and make sure that your device is detected then hit the jailbreak button as shown.

STEP 4: Now you’ll see “Restoring in Progress”, you should wait for few minutes. Once done, get on your iPhone and you’ll find an icon named “Absinthe”, hit it and this will open greenpois0n.com which will install Cydia on your device replacing the Absinthe icon as shown.

Errors:

• For FATAL(_LINE_) error, go to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content And Settings. Then do the procedure all over again.
• For Camera Roll error: You can simply fix this error by rerunning the jailbreak on the A5 device.
• For error establishing database connection : You can fix “error establishing a database connection” message by going to Settings > General > Network > VPN > ON. Now try again and you won’t receive this message.

Before you start, make sure that you have updated your device and created a backup so that you can restore your apps, photos, media, contacts and everything. Also unlock your device by typing the passcode if necessary.

STEP 1: Download CLI Absinthe for Windows and Mac OS X from here.

STEP 2: Unzip the folder named cinject_0.4.3 into the system folder, i.e. C:\.

STEP 3: Now go to the start menu, click on run and type in cmd.exe.

TEP 4: In the command window, type: CD C:\cinject_0.4.3 as shown to get into the required folder.

STEP 5: You’ll now need to execute CLI. Do this by typing: cinject.exe -i payloads/jailbreak.mobileconfig

STEP 6: Now execute cinject.exe -j payloads and wait for the backup.

STEP 7: Finally execute the command cinject.exe -w.

STEP 8: Get in your device and tap on Absinthe icon to get your jailbreak done in few minutes.

Errors:

An iPad (Wi-Fi +3G) has apparently been hacked to make phone calls and SMS messages. While we’re not sure about the legitimacy of this claim, a relatively low-quality YouTube video demonstrates the hack in action, and it appears to work.

The hack has reportedly been achieved by iPhoneIslam, the same group who brought FaceTime to the Middle East. As you can see in the video below, a brand new hack – called PhoneItiPad – appears to add a working Phone and Messages application to the iPad 3G.

Don’t get too excited, because the hack isn’t available in Cydia yet. However, according to the group, it will be able to purchase in the Cydia Store “very soon” (before WWDC).

According to someone “in the know,” Apple’s second generation iPad should be jailbroken by @p0sixninja in “about three weeks.”

The news comes from @veeence, the guy who successfully predicted the release of an untethered jailbreak solution for iOS 4.3.1. According to a Twitter update posted by @veeence yesterday, we should expect support for the iPad 2 to be added in around three weeks:

It’ll likely work on the iPad 2G as well, as soon as it gets jailbroken. Rough ETA is about 3 weeks, according to @p0sixninja.

Saurik just announced it’s release via  Twitter, saying: Cydia 1.1: faster, slimmer, and more stable; including an improved search algorithm and “resume where you left off”. Available in Cydia now!

In order to download Cydia 1.1, all users have to do is launch the application and install the updates when prompted.

A nice addition to this version of Greenpois0n is that it loads NitoTV onto your Apple TV during the installation process. You no longer have to use the Terminal window to get it loaded onto your Apple TV anymore. Currently, this is about the only addition you can make to an Apple TV, at least until Apple decides to open an App Store for the Apple TV. Steve Jobs has hinted at the possibility of opening an App Store but only if and when the time is right.

Follow the below guide for step by step instructions to convert your tethered jailbreak to untethered jailbreak on iOS 4.2.1:

STEP 1: Your device must be on iOS 4.2.x, then download GreenPois0n RC5 for Mac OS X from here. [Mirror]

STEP 2: Launch GreenPois0n RC5 then connect your iPhone into your Mac via USB and click onJailbreak as shown below:

STEP 3: Follow the instructions shown on the screen to enter DFU mode:

STEP 4: After the jailbreak is done, you will have a new application on your springboard called Loader. Use it to install Cydia, then it will ask you if you want to remove it. A quick re-spring, and you now have Cydia.

STEP 1: Unzip the ‘Seas0nPass.zip’ file and launch Seas0nPass (Download at the end).

STEP 2: If your AppleTV is not yet jailbroken, select ‘Create IPSW’. (if already jailbroken, and you just need to do a ‘tethered boot’ scroll down).

STEP 3: The latest AppleTV software will be downloaded and used to create a custom ‘jailbroken’ software file.

STEP 4: When prompted, connect your AppleTV using a micro-USB cable (leave power disconnected), and hold both the ‘MENU’ and ‘PLAY/PAUSE’ buttons for 7 seven seconds.

STEP 5: iTunes will open automatically and start the restore process.

STEP 6: iTunes will confirm the restore when complete – your AppleTV is now jailbroken. Please proceed to the ‘tethered boot’ section below.

How to use Seas0nPass for a ‘tethered boot’:

Note: The AppleTV MUST be disconnected from the computer (for at least a brief moment) after restoring in iTunes for the tethered boot process below to work properly.

STEP 1: Open Seas0nPass and select the ‘Boot Tethered’ option.

STEP 2: When prompted, connect the AppleTV to your computer via USB. Wait for the rapid flashing light then connect the power. Once both are connected hold both the ‘MENU’ and ‘PLAY/PAUSE’ buttons for 7 seven seconds.

STEP 3: Seas0n Pass will complete the tethered boot automatically. Once complete, remove the USB cable and connect the HDMI cable.
