AT&T has just confirmed that five markets — Dallas, Houston, Chicago, Atlanta and San Antonio — will be getting LTE sometime “this summer,” with ten more as-yet-unnamed cities set to join them in the second half of the year. All told, AT&T says should cover about 70 million Americans by year’s end. Of course, an LTE network needs some devices, but AT&T unfortunately isn’t providing much in the way of details about those just yet — it’s only saying that it plans to add 20 4G devices to its portfolio this year, and that “some of those” will be LTE capable. Don’t expect the next iPhone to be LTE capable!

By John Donovan, AT&T Chief Technology Officer

AT&T has delivered five mobile broadband speed upgrades in recent years, including our HSPA+ deployment last year. And average nationwide speeds on the AT&T network have increased – more than 40 percent over the past two years alone.

The next network evolution will arrive this summer with the addition of LTE in five markets – Dallas, Houston, Chicago, Atlanta and San Antonio. We plan to add another 10 or more markets in the second half of the year, and cover 70 million Americans with LTE by year-end. We also have plans to add 20 4G devices to our robust device portfolio this year, with some of those being LTE capable.

We’re positioning to deliver a great mobile broadband experience in the near term with HSPA+ and a growing LTE footprint.

We’ve invested $75 billion in our wireless and wired networks over the last four years – more capital invested in the U.S. than any company in any industry. And we plan to invest $19 billion in our wireless and wireline networks and other capital projects this year. The investments we’ve made to evolve our mobile broadband network in recent years, plus what we have planned for the future, put our customers in position to benefit fully from a host of coming mobile broadband innovations.

337 days following the handset’s initial release in North America, Apple is finally introducing the iPhone 4 in India.

As you can see, Indian Apple fans have the ability to purchase an iPhone 4 “practically for free,” and can receive 100 percent of the handset’s price (Rs. 34,500 for the 16GB model and Rs. 40,900 for the 32GB model) back in monthly credits, over the course of a year – providing they pay for the iPhone 4 in full upfront.

Telecom operators Bharti airtel and Aircel today said they will start selling Apple’s iPhone 4 in India from May 27. According to Aircel :

Following an upfront payment of Rs. 34,500 for the 16GB model and Rs. 40,900 for the 32GB model, customers will have the opportunity to recover 100 percent of their upfront iPhone cost in monthly credits on their service plan over a period of 24 months.

“With a robust roll out of Aircel’s 3G services in 13 circles across India, the launch of iPhone 4 will allow our consumers to truly savour the 3G experience,” Aircel Director Sandip Das said in a statement.

“With our incredible new price plans, we aim to make iPhone more affordable than ever,” Das said.

The Mac App Store is just like the App Store for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. So it’s as easy to find and download Mac apps as it is to add your favorite magazine to iPad or a new game to iPod touch. You can browse Mac apps by category, such as games, productivity, music, and more. Or do a quick search for something specific. Read developer descriptions and user reviews. Flip through screenshots. When you find an app you like, click to buy it.

The Mac App Store revolutionizes the way applications are installed on a computer — it happens in one step. Enter the same iTunes password you use to buy apps on iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch. And within seconds, your new app flies to your Dock, ready to go.

HTC Desire is an Android smart phone and it is priced at 440 U.K pounds which costs Rs 30,000 approx.

It packs the updated HTC Sense UI
We’ve been a fan of the HTC Sense UI since it first cropped up on HTC Hero, and its now been tweaked to include some rather nice new features.

First up there is the new FriendStream widget, that brings all your friends’ activity on Facebook, Twitter and Flickr to one place for easy viewing, and the Helicopter View which allows you to pinch the screen to see up to 7 homescreens at once in mini versions. You can then choose which one to go to from there, rather than scrolling through to get to it.

You can also expect improved People, Calendar and Weather widgets, and an improved experience with Exchange email.

It’s a true multimedia phone
On top of improvements made to the Android music player with the Sense skin, online video looks stunning on the 3.7-inch AMOLED screen, and with Flash Lite 4 support, you won’t be limited to what you can and can’t watch as you are with the iPhone.
