iPhone 4 Baseband 02.10.04 Unlock coming soon

The well-known iPhone baseband hacker replied someone asking him (in Arabic) about if the unlock would be ready before 16th January. Hashim has confirmed that the unlock will be available before that date.

Sherif Hashim found an exploitable baseband crash that could bring an unlock for basebands 05.14.02 and 02.10.04 back in November. One impatient unlocker sent Hashim  a tweet in Arabic, saying he was going away for military service on January 16 and asking if the unlock would be ready by then. Hashim’s  response, in English: “sure.” Continue Reading

Warning: ultrasn0w May Break GPS on Baseband 6.15.00

The Dev-Team is warning about a potential issue with ultrasn0w for iOS 4.2.1 on iPhones with the 06.15.00 baseband. Still, to be on the safe side, they’re suggesting people should just not expect GPS to work if they want to unlock iPhones with the 06.15.00 baseband using ultrasn0w: Continue Reading

WARNING — YOU DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK! PLEASE UNDERSTAND THE CONSEQUENCES OF UPDATING TO 06.15. Continue Reading

Few moments ago, Musclenerd has confirmed that the ultrasn0w to unlock iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G finally got working fully on 4.2.1, so it looks that everything over there going alright, everything on schedule, which means that we will catch new version of ultrasn0w tomorrow as we mentioned before. Regarding iPhone 4’s, the dev team hasn’t provided an ETA. So we will have to wait for some more time, for ultrasn0w to be iPhone 4 iOS 4.2.1 compatible.

Musclenerd: Finally got ultrasn0w working fully on 4.2.1. Apple inadvertently(!) broke ultrasn0w via aggressive compiler optimization
